HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE
The village of Kumna was first mentioned in the 13th century in the Danish Valuation Book, which gives an idea of the region’s long history. Kumna Manor, also known as Knoobus Manor, was founded in the 1620s and its first owner was Johan Knopius. The property has been owned by several prominent families over the centuries, including the Göbels and Meyendorffs.
The manor house, which was probably built in the second half of the 18th century, is a single-storey wooden building with a gable roof on a high plinth. It has come down to us after being rebuilt at the end of the 19th century. The building is characterized by numerous wooden decorations, especially in the window lintels. In the central part of the facade there is a small protruding vestibule and a stone extension at the right end. The former main building of Kumna Manor has been preserved in its historical form, offering a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience an authentic manor milieu. At the end of the photo gallery are maps depicting the manor from 1697, 1897 and 1936.
TODAY
The historical value and architectural beauty of the building are still outstanding, but it needs complete renovation. Living area 353 m², total area 763 m². According to the building register, the house has 5 one-room and 5 two-room apartments, the actual distribution of the space is reflected in the floor plan in the photo gallery. It is possible to build a second floor under the roof. There is a project approved by the Heritage Protection Board for replacing the roof covering of the building and reconstructing the roof structures. In the west wing there is a stone extension with a full basement, where the roof has leaked, and the water-damaged wooden structures must also be replaced during the renovation. Central water and sewage system, electricity 3X63 amps.
The building has the potential to establish a hotel or boarding house, as well as a catering establishment. Possibility to reconstruct into a single and two-family house or smaller apartments. There are many possibilities for use, the location is great. The manor is surrounded by a beautiful park where you can enjoy peace and quiet. An ideal place for those who appreciate historical architecture and want to live or work in a unique environment.
