HISTORY:

The house was built in 1780 as the residence of Christopher Heinrich Mohr, a merchant, alderman and active socialite. The building was built by Mohr during the reconstruction of the main building (Rüütli 23) and was originally one-story. In the 1820s, the second floor was added to it (as a plastered wooden structure, i.e. in the vahvaerk style) and a stepped gable.

After C. H. Mohr, the next owner of the building was Hans Christian Erler, alderman of the Suurgild and son of the city’s master builder. Later, the property was bought by the trading company J. Jacke and Co.

In the 1860s, one of the company’s leaders, Swedish-Norwegian and Danish Honorary Consul Carl Nicolai Frey, lived there.
